Hi everyone,
I just wanted to officially roll out our Center for Excellence training program! We've been piecing everything together and now have a staff handbook resource that describes the program and links together all the resources. Check it out if you're interested! - Peter
Congrats to Peter, Christie and Karen who are hosting our first Center for Excellence training, for middle school teachers on Friday October 19th, and Monday and Tuesday October 22nd and 23rd. There are 32 registered teachers going through the program! Feedback from Friday's session was quite positive and energized. Following our attitude of giving, this Center for Excellence is building capacity for a 6-12 pipeline for PBL across the district.
What does New Tech get in exchange for this training? For each day that an individual staff member is a trainer, he or she gets a $100 classroom stipend to spend on needed materials for students. Once a staff member reaches a sixth day of being a trainer, he or she will get a personal stipend of $500. And New Tech is building a savings pool of money to be able to continue to afford to send staff to NTAC and Meeting of the Minds trainings throughout the summer and school year! It is a win-win-win! Any staff member who wants a turn as a trainer will hopefully get a turn~ we'll be presenting opportunities throughout the year (with first dibs going to staff who are PBL certified). - Michelle
