Principal's Message

Thank you to those of you who attended last night's "New Tech's Financial Future" meeting. The turnout was light, but it did represent all stakeholder groups, including
  • Staff (Stephen, Christie, Nancy, Shawn C., Andre, Pam, Tom)
  • Alumni
  • Scholarship giver / Community Members
  • NVUSD Board Member (Joe Shunk)
  • Penguin Parent Club members (lots)
  • New Tech Parents
  • New Tech Students
  • The FONT Board (all members)
I will make sure to share out budget information in an Echo course that I'm creating (since this blog is technically public I don't want to include here).

I'm Tweeting
I know, it sounds painful, hee-hee. I have a goal to increase communication between all stakeholders, in a frequent, easy way. I think Twitter might work out nicely. If you want to follow me, my username is @RustyClover. There are thousands of Michelle Spencers, so this username I think will actually be easier for people to find the real me. RustyClover is my "DJ" name on Turntable.fm (app).

I was inspired to Tweet by a comment made by Alan November @globalearner, "Your job as principal is to make heroes of your teachers--tweet out all the great things your teachers are doing."

Oh Yeah We're WASCing Now
I know, it sounds painful, hee-hee. Anne Vallerga and I are both on Visiting Committees with two separate WASC teams. We start our intense work on Sunday, and will be observing and writing for 12 hour (or longer) days Mon, Tues, and concluding on Wed. This experience is always eye-opening. We may be inspired and we may develop new appreciation for our own wonderful school. Warning: I may have a real struggle to keep up with my emails during that time. Please be patient with me. Tom Solberg will be your first point of contact if you need anything!

Wednesday's Staff Meeting
Yet another mandatory staff meeting that I will miss. I leave you in competent hands with the Leadership Team. They will be sending out the agenda. Unless you have gotten approval in advance (like Anne has due to the WASC visitation work), please be there on time promptly at 3:15. In addition to Students of Concern, you will be preparing for our Distinguished School visit. Thanks! And hey, you will be in my thoughts and warm regards. Be kind to each other.
