New Tech is applying to become part of the national innovation team that will lead the way in developing Project-based performance tasks and assessments aligned with Common Core. Christie attended training last year at NTAC, and has shared out some of her college-ready assessments and rubrics during our Friday collaboration time (it was one of the choices offered a while back). We would like to have a core team made up of subject-area teachers in English, history, math and science. If possible we can invite other members of our staff to participate in this pilot / task development (called "The Teacher Design Group"). With this training, you will be part of the national cohort, and will have some responsibility to help train our staff here in Napa.
Here is a link to the application that we are in the process of filling out (you do not need to fill out this application, rather just read the bottom to find out more info). At the bottom of the application is a list of your commitments and your supports. Please look it over and let me know if you want to be a part of this national group. If yes and I have the funding, you will attend intensive training at NTAC that begins on Monday, July 15th and lasts through Wednesday (meaning, your only full day of "free choice" activities will be Thursdays). You will have evenings free, and we will probably have a New Tech staff session on Monday early evening and Tues early evening instead of all day on Monday as we have in the past, to accommodate your potential participation in the Teacher Design Group.
