Wanted to make sure you are in the loop about upcoming events at New Tech which will impact you (either directly or indirectly)
- Wednesday, September 11th at 3:15 pm Mandatory Staff Meeting. Here is the link to the agenda.
- Thursday, September 12th at 6:30 pm is our first Penguin Parent Club (PPC) meeting. Ariel is your staff representative at the PPC meetings, so if you want him to be aware of anything you need, get in touch with him before Thursday.
- The PPC fundraising events last year (the golf tourney and La Strada, which so many of you helped extensively with) were quite successful, both socially and financially. Currently the PPC account shows a balance of over $50,000.
- Here is the proposal (you must be logged in using your @newtechhigh.org account) that I submitted to the leadership of the PPC, asking them to fund key initiatives that directly support NT students, and that is aligned with our budget gap line-items and the PPC's new by-laws and mission statement. They are also well aware of how grateful you were to get a classroom stipend from them in past years!
- In the past, the PPC has seemed to appreciate having any staff members attend who are interested! So Ariel is your representative, but always feel welcome to attend.
- Monday, September 16th is our Fall Parents On Campus Day. Yes, we are doing one in the Fall and one in the Spring. The one in the Spring will be on a Tuesday. These changes are based directly on the feedback provided by you, parents, and students in response to last year's event. What does this mean to you?
- You may have parents sitting in on all or a portion of your classes, shadowing their students. You do not need to prepare anything special or different for that day, just be aware that Bob will add extra chairs to your room and that parents may be observing or participating (if you invite them to participate).
- Here is the draft agenda. We are offering a series of pull out workshops geared specifically for parents so that they can get targeted support and won't spend the entire two hours in your rooms!
- Celebrate Mexican Independence Day! Breakfast and Lunch is being provided by a team of Leadership Students to educate and celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Please join us at 7:30 am if you'd like to purchase authentic Mexican foods or at Lunch for amazing cuisine AND authentic music and a dance performance. It should be a lovely way to mingle with students and parents and enjoy delicious food.
- Friday, October 4th~ Staff Working Retreat. Voluntary and paid (100/for the day take-home; NT will cover your taxes and provide lunch). Opportunity for us to work together collaboratively on CRAs, WASC, mindset and staff concerns. Agenda in development through Leadership Team. Should be a great day!
