Congratulations to Margaret Dennett who was awarded a Spencer Colton Grant for her innovative idea titled, "Terra Madre". She will receive her grant at a recognition ceremony on Saturday, November 16th. Kudos to you, Margaret.
An impressive number of New Tech staff applied for the Spencer Colton Grant, and although you didn't all receive the grant this year, you are congratulated for putting out the effort of applying, and encourage to go for this grant again next year!
A big thank you to Lisa Gottfried and Karen Provenza and the students involved, and the advisory committee for making the entire Film Festival experience for us this year, again, truly meaningful, powerful and effective. Today was amazing, with the appearance of Anita Hill as the icing on the cake. We are officially the "Go To" school for the Napa Film Festival, and I hear a lot of chatter about what might be able to happen here with our students and staff next year. And, the New Tech Network, namely Krista Clark, is available to handle all the technical coordination elements next year, to lighten the load upon our staff. Again thank you for your hard work and investment in this event!
Cool new article published by District Administration about our school, features Tom and Christie Wolf and students: here's the link.
Congratulations to Angelene Warnock who has been selected by Waverly College in Australia to speak at their conference, in Austria. She will be promoting student-centered learning, our work at New Technology HS with PBL, and neuroplasticity in the teenage brain. The conference is in March (yes during our WASC visit) and they are paying her way to attend. Way to represent, Angelene!
Congratulations to Peter Abboud who was selected to present at the Palm Springs CUE Conference. He'll be doing a three-hour session about New Technology High School and our use of technology, and also promoting our Center For Excellence.
More celebrations to come next week. Thanks for all that you do, and have a great weekend!
Sincerely, Michelle
