California Exit Exam for Juniors & Seniors
Please begin to have conversations with any student who is an 11th or 12th grader, who has not passed one or both sections of the Exit Exam. Positive messages are so helpful to them, as well as providing them with resources that they can use to brush up and get prepared. Now is the time for them to spend extra time studying in the areas that they have gaps. It is very helpful if you can identify for students what their current strong math and English strands are, and have them "maintain their strengths" and brush up on what they already know! Targeting strengths, balanced with increasing their competence in areas that they are slightly weak in is a strong strategy that I've seen lead students to success! Focusing on only student weaknesses so close to the test can backfire (especially if they forget what they've previously learned which happens often in math). Here is a helpful free Google Site that is from a different school but has several useful resources, like fun websites, practice tests, and study guides all in one place.
Dates:
Tuesday, October 4th English (11th & 12th only)
Wednesday, October 5th Math (11th & 12th only)
CWRA Exams for Freshman & Seniors
The CWRA Exams are coming soon. Actually, we can start assessing our 9th and 12th graders right away, and I'd like your input about the best way to do this... I'm thinking that it makes sense to do it in the core, team-taught classes. What are some dates you would recommend? Please fill out this survey to let me know.
PSAT for Sophomores & Juniors
We will host the PSAT here at New Tech on Wednesday, October 12th. Many of you will have subs because its the West Coast "Meeting of the Minds" day with the New Tech Network. Please fill out this survey to recommend the most logical time to test our students that day.
