Happy Friday Everyone!
Congratulations on completing the first week of the school year. I know it was rather exhausting, especially for those of you who attended the Parent Business Night last night, but I have to say that you truly accomplished a stellar first week.
As Tom and I were observing throughout the week and the day today, we were struck by the positive energy and general happy spirit that was pervading this campus. Thank you for investing in building our culture with such enthusiasm and passion. Every single parent that I have spoken to, bar none, has said that their students have had an incredible first week. As I walked around looking at the garden projects today at lunch, I was amazed by the quality and diversity of what your advisories created. The students are displaying feelings of pride and excitement for their gardens. I think this project will have the momentum to carry on throughout the school year. Bravo for that! The gardens are beautiful~ little gems scattered about.
Kudos to Peter and Christie for an excellent collaboration this morning. It was nice to "start at the beginning" again and get clear on our whys. They referred to a TED talk by Simon Sinek. It's an excellent video, if you haven't seen it before, I encourage you to watch it (see below).
Thank you Nancy for the way you expressed the opinion that if we care about and value Advisory, that we dedicate time to ensure it is successful. Philosophically, I completely, absolutely agree with what you said. I'm left in a quandary, however, about where to find that time!! The Leadership Team will spend some time reflecting on this, and we'll see if we can come up with anything as a solution.
Here is the link to final Adjuncts Assignments. You will need to meet with your team at lunch or outside of school and coordinate who does what. Please take notes right in the Adjuncts Assignments google docs about responsibilities and roles.
Here is the link to the dates and times for Leadership Team meetings. You are welcome to send a rep from each Adjunct Team. Additionally, we are making a commitment to send out minutes or notes from each of our meetings so that everyone feels well-informed.
Cheers to the start of an amazing new school year! Sincerely, Michelle
