During our Wednesday Voluntary Staff Meeting we briefly discussed Tech Lends A Hand, and I wanted to make sure that everyone got all the information.
- The teachers in charge of TLH are Tom Wolf and Karen Provenza.
- We must have one adult for every 20 students, so if your Advisory has more than 20 students, you will need to secure a parent volunteer.
- Each Advisor is responsible for securing his or her own chaperones BUT...
- Nancy Hale has kindly offered to contact the Parent Coordinator in charge of chaperones (and has already done so!)
- If the Parent Coordinator finds any parent volunteers, the coordinator will email the contact information to Tom Wolf and Karen Provenza, who can then assign the volunteer to any teacher needing help.
- So in a nutshell, if you can try to secure your own chaperones that is a good idea, but if you get desperate, then Tom and Karen may have someone who can help!
Other news~ All New Tech Students have completed a "Walking Permission Slip" so if your TLH activity is within walking distance, you are covered. However, the Walking Permission Slips do not cover public bus transportation. Anything other than literal / exclusive walking will need permission slips completed! If you plan on using the bus, it is advisable to purchase a book of bus passes in advance, and then collect the money from the students and give them the bus pass, instead of trying to have them all purchase their bus passes that day.
Please if you have other questions or advice for your fellow advisors, post a response to this blog and share what you know!! And FYI, the All School Google Calendar is now an accurate reflection of our TLH and Scholarship / Awards day schedules and events.
