Math PD Opportunity

NapaLearns is excited to team up with North Bay CUE and offer 10 sponsored spots for Napa County math teachers to attend the ConnectU Conference on May 12th at New Tech High School!

We have the rare privilege to have Courtney Cadwell, an original Khan Academy pilot teacher, present a hands on workshop demonstrating the blended learning model used by the Los Altos School District to implement the Khan Academy Program in math classrooms district-wide.  We think this will be a great learning opportunity for teachers to "flip the classroom" and improve math instruction. This innovative program has been in publications such as The Economist, Wired Magazine, Fast Company, Education Week, Education Next, and Time and has been featured on the CBS Early Show, FoxNews, and the Gates Foundation's website.  The show 60 Minutes aired  a segment this spring highlighting this exceptional program.

In addition to the workshop on the Khan Academy, teachers will have a choice of the following afternoon sessions:

Web 2.0 with Collaborize Classroom
Get Your Classroom Online with Edmodo
PBL with the iPad
KQED/PBS Learning Media

Breakfast snacks and lunch will also be provided.

Please forward to math teachers and have them email Sergio Villegas at savillegas@nvusd.k12.ca.us  to request to be a sponsored teachers. Sponsored participants will be asked to submit a short survey with information to be shared in the Napa Community.

Teachers will be chosen on a first come first served basis so please make sure to forward this as soon as possible!
